Indian pro-boxing star Vijender Singh, who has been unbeaten in his seven bouts, reached the 10th position in the latest World Boxing Organisation (WBO) rankings. The 30-year-old had defeated former WBC European champion Kerry Hope last month to win the Asia Pacific Super Middleweight title.

The 2008 Olympics bronze medallist turned pro in October last year and has been on a winning run, defeating Sonny Whiting, Dean Gillen, Samet Hyuseinov, Alexander Horvath, Matiouze Royer, and Andrzej Soldra via knockouts before lifting his maiden title last month with a win via points. The WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight title win pushed Vijender to the 10th spot in the super middleweight category rankings.

“It’s just the start for me, one day I want to be the No.1 in the world. That’s my dream and I am sure I will achieve it,” Vijender, who was India’s first Olympic and World Championships medal winner in a trailblazing amateur career, told PTI.

American Jesse Hart, the reigning North American Boxing Organisation (NABO) champion leads the standings in the category. Vijender is likely to face Commonwealth champion Luke Blackledge in his next fight, his promoters had hinted after the triumph title triumph in Delhi.
