Boxing star Mary Kom is just one win away from ensuring herself a medal as she will compete against Megan Gordon in the quarterfinals of 48kg category. On the other hand, Vikas Krishnan (75kg) has made it to pre-quarterfinals as he got a bye along with debutant Manish Kaushik.

This is Mary Kom’s first Commonwealth Games appearance and it will be her last as well. However, she is one of the favourites to clinch the gold medal in the 48kg category.

Meanwhile, Vikas Krishnan, who is participating in the 75 kg category, got a bye into the pre-quarterfinals (round of 16) along with debutant Manish Kaushik who is a part of the 60 kg category.

Satish Kumar,  who is a former Asian games bronze medallist, also qualified for the quarterfinals in the 91 kg category as he got a bye as well because of the small size of his draw.

Pinki Jangra and Lovlina Borgohain were the other boxers to secure quarter-final positions in their respective weight categories of 51 kg and 69 kg respectively.

Former CWG gold-medallist Manoj Kumar participating in the 69 kg category, Naman Tanwar participating in the 91 kg category, Muhammed Hussamuddin participating in the 56 kg category will play their respective opening bouts on April 5, 6 and 7 respectively.
