Kolkata to host India's first international chess tournament
Kolkata will see as many as 11 top-ranked chess players, including Vishwanathan Anand, part in the Tata Steel Chess India tournament that would take place from November 9-14, 2018. The US$ 40,000 prize event will have USD10,000 as first prize and USD 7,500 as second in the Rapid and Blitz games.
A total of 11 top-ranked players will take part in the tournament, which will be played in Rapid and Blitz formats. The venue of the tournament is Indian Council for Cultural Relations, 9A, Ho Chi Minh Sarani, Kolkata 700 071, one of the cultural hubs located in the heart of the city.
