Indian women's hockey team squandered their lead to draw their friendly tie 2-2 against Argentina on Wednesday at the CeNard sports complex in Caba, Argentina. The Indian are engaged in the friendlies as a warm-up for the upcoming women's World Hockey League Finals which will begin on the December 5.

The first quarter ended in a nil-nil draw as neither of the teams could find an opening to score. The second quarter seemed to be headed the same wasy as its predecessor until the last minute when Monika struck a wonderful backhand flick to provide India with a 1-0 lead at half time. The Indian team, ranked 13 in the world, were pretty much the underdogs in the game, but they surprised the 3rd ranked Argentinians with a timely breakthrough.

After the break, Agentina managed to come back through Delfina Merino in the 36th minute to make it 1-1. However, Ritu Rai managed to restore India's lead in the 41st minute, making it 2-1. With the fourth quarter inching to an end, India were looking set for a win, only for Delfina Merino to equalize in the 55th minute and the match ended 2-2.

The two sides will again meet tomorrow to play another friendly match.
