U-18 Asia Cup | India defeat hosts Bangladesh to lift the title

After thumping arch-rivals Pakistan in the semifinals, the Indian U-18 men's team romped to the title win by defeating tournament hosts Bangladesh in the final of U-18 Asia Cup hockey tournament at Dhaka. In a thrilling second half, both the teams scored seven goals as India finally prevailed 5-4.

In one of the most entertaining hockey finals in recent times, India and Bangladesh fought toe-to-toe in the final of the U-18 Asia Cup hockey tournament on Friday in a nine-goal thriller only for India to win the match 5-4. Early in the first half India conceded a goal which they managed to level within four minutes to end the first half at 1-1.

India looked to have sealed the match by scoring two goals in quick succession in the second half only to see Bangladesh make a comeback and then go on to level the scores at 3-3. India quickly responded with a fourth goal in the same quarter as the game looked to have gone their way.

In the dying minutes, Bangladesh once again equalized and made it 4-4, before India scored the winner with just 20 seconds remaining on the clock. India's Vice Captain Hardik Singh was awarded the 'Man of the Match' award in the final.
