Hockey World Cup | Pakistan Hockey team assistant coach reported for not following rules

The Pakistan Hockey team seems to have again ventured into the troubled waters as their assistant coach was reported by Hockey India for not following the Tournament rules and regulations. Earlier, Pakistani player and vice-captain Ammad Butt was handed a one-match suspension by FIH on Thursday for a rough tackle on-field. 

Though the Pakistan team management have appealed against the decision of Butt’s ban the final decision in the matter was yet to be taken by the Federation of International Hockey(FIH). The development in the Kaleem’s case was confirmed by Kaleem Dar who is part of the Pakistan team management.

"One more inquiry about our (assistant) coach has been lodged by Hockey India. A new inquiry every day. The last few days have been very hard. Most of our energy is being wasted on things other than sports," Dar revealed.

Dar also narrated his side of the story and intended that there was no fault of the Assistant coach in all the saga. Blaming the security officials who he said misbehaved with them.

"Danish and I sit up on the terrace and watch the match. We communicate via walkie-talkie with Hassan Sardar (manager) and Rehan Butt (coach). At half-time, I sent him with some notes to Hassan bhai. When he was coming back, he was stopped by the security and was asked to show his accreditation card. But the security people misbehaved with him."

"He (Danish) asked for their names so that we could lodge a protest. After the game, I told them (security) that they should not have let us go into the stand before the match began in the first place. It is foolish that you are stopping us later, after half-time," Dar said.

Apart from the off field issues, on the field too the news has not been good for the Pakistani side. With the Pakistan captain Mohammed Rizwan already sitting out of the rest of the tournament due to a toe fracture and with the vice-captain banned for one match the upcoming match against the Netherlands looks an uphill task for them. That match will also decide the future course in the tournament for Pakistan as they will have to win the match to at least make it to the crossovers.
