Well-known Dutch hockey goalkeeping trainer Dennis van de Pol will conduct a camp for the Indian goalkeepers from tomorrow in Bengaluru. Nine Indian players including PR Sreejesh will take part in the special camp which will be overseen by the chief coach of the Indian men’s team Graham Reid.

Hockey India is going to conduct a special seven-day goalkeeping camp from tomorrow at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru. PR Sreejesh, Krishan B Pathak, Suraj Karkera, Jugraj Singh Jr., Paras Malhotra, Jagdeep Dayal, Pawan, Prashant Kumar Chauhan and Sahil Kumar Nayak are the seven Indian keepers who will be a part of the camp. Dennis van de Pol, from the Netherlands, has been invited by the board to conduct the camp under the supervision of Reid.

"This is the first goalkeeping camp in 2019 and it will provide an opportunity for not only our keepers in the 33 core probables but also the upcoming young keepers as well. This will provide an opportunity to get world class coaching and help provide them with the training tools to keep their development moving in a positive direction. The goalkeepers camp will be an important feature in the National program going forward," Reid was quoted as saying by Hockey India.

"This will certainly give me an opportunity to get a closer look at the pool of young goalkeepers we have coming through to the senior ranks in the near future.”

Pol is currently with the Drijver Goalie Academy in the Netherlands and KNHB (Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond). He also trains the Dutch youth team and travels to different countries for the camps on invitation. The Dutch trainer was also with the Canada women’s hockey side and also had a goalkeeping stint in China.
