Bengaluru Yodhas defeated Punjab Royals 6-1 in a one-sided contest in the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) on Sunday held at the GBU stadium in Noida. Geeta Phogat’s heroics went in vain as crucial victories provided previously by Lalita Sherawat and Davit Modzmanashvili had already sealed the tie in favour of the Bengaluru Yodhas.

Lalita Sherawat of Bengaluru Yodhas and Priyanka Phogat of Punjab Royals contested an exciting bout which went all the way to the final few seconds. Lalita won the lone point of the first round to make it 1-0, but Priyanka came back strongly in the second to make it 2-1 in the fifth minute of the bout.

Priyanka was close to winning the bout with only 10 seconds left, but Lalita managed to get the Punjab player on to the mat and clinched two crucial points to seal the match 3-2 in the final seconds.

Davit Modzmanashvili of Bengaluru Yodhas fought against Jargalsaikhan Chuluunbat in the men’s 125kg bout. Davit struck the first point as he dumped Chuluunbat out of the mat with a standing take-down to win four points in the second minute of the first round.

Davit earned another point in the second round due to passivity shown by Chuluunbat. Davit eventually sealed the match in favour of the Bengaluru Yodhas by winning the bout 5-0. This victory helped Bengaluru Yodhas gain an unassailable lead of 4-1 in the match.
