In an inspirational speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi showered praise on Olympic medalists PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik calling them India's daughters who saved our pride at the Rio Olympics. He also called for the people to encourage their daughters to take up sports.

The Prime Minister wove a compelling tale in his speech today bringing in multiple issues that Indian women face, and put forward the glowing example of the two medalists.

"We have to make sure that our sisters and daughters don't have to go in open for defecation. You must have witnessed how our daughters saved India's face in Rio Olympics and brought honour to us (by winning medals). This is the true power of our daughters," said Modi, reported PTI.

The PM also pushed the nation to take the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao movement (Save Girls-Educate Girls) to the next level - Beti Khilao (Let girls play).

"After girls' performance in Rio, people have started saying that Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, and Beti Khilao. So let's encourage our daughters to take up sport activities," said Modi.
