South Asian Games: India continues golden run; bags 16 gold on Day 2

After starting the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati and Shillong with 14 gold medals on the opening day, India added 16 more to the tally on Day 2 to lead the table with an overall tally of 45 medals, which included 30 gold, 12 silver and 3 bronze medals, to extend their lead on Sri Lanka, who have 8 golds.

In what was a gold rush for the hosts at the 2016 South Asian Games in Guwahati and Shillong, India bagged 14 gold medals and five silver medals in the opening day of the games to stake a claim at the top of the table beating Sri Lanka, who bagged 21 medals overall, in terms of gold medals.
