South Asian Games: India’s best-ever medal haul leaps to 268 as shooters sizzle

India continued their dominance on day eight of the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) and secured eight more gold medals – six in shooting, one apiece in women’s triathlon and taekwondo - and a handful of bronze and silver to take their medal tally to 268 – the nation's best-ever haul in SAG.

Shooters added most of the medals on offer with five golds to the tally on the eighth day of the competition. Omkar Singh in the men’s 10m air pistol, Rahi Sarnobat in the women’s 25m pistol and Anjum Moudgil in the women’s 50m rifle three positions added individual gold medals, while also capturing the yellow metal in all three events.

At the end of day 8, India had 156 gold, 85 silver and 25 bronze in their overall medal tally of 268
