The International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Executive Board has awarded the Olympic Order to the Indian Olympic Association president Narayanaswamy Ramachandran for his outstanding services to the Olympic Movement. He is the fifth Indian to receive the coveted award from the IOC.

“It is with great pleasure I inform you that the IOC Executive Board by its decision on June 1, 2016, has awarded the Olympic Order to you for your outstanding services to the Olympic movement. My heartfelt congratulations,” said the letter written by International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach to Ramachandran.

Reacting to the IOC recognition, Mr Ramachandran, speaking from London said “truly humbled and honoured. My grateful thanks to the IOC President Dr Thomas Bach and the IOC Executive Board for choosing me for this coveted award,” said a press release from the Squash Rackets Federation of India.

The award, established by IOC in May 1975, has been awarded to four other Indians. Mool Chand Chowhan, Indira Gandhi, Jasdev Singh, and BS Adityan, were the other recipients of the award.
