Oscar-winning music director A.R.Rahman, whose name has been mentioned for the Olympic ambassador role, has said that he has received no intimation from the IOA. Sachin Tendulkar and Abhinav Bindra were announced as the Olympic goodwill ambassadors, and it was expected that Rahman would join them.

Speaking on the launch of the Hollywood movie “Pele”, the music of which has been composed by Rahman himself, the legendary composer said that he has only heard rumours about his role as the Olympic ambassador. “I heard it from the press but nobody (approached me). It was all over the press, in the Google news spread. But I didn’t get any email yet. Maybe my management knows,” Rahman told the media in Mumbai, on Monday, reported PTI.

With Salman Khan’s selection for the role receiving criticism from different corners, Sachin Tendulkar, and Abhinav Bindra were also appointed by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) as goodwill ambassadors for the Rio Olympics. But the musician supported Salman’s appointment and said, “I think he is a very popular face, so why not.”
