Paralympian Jhajharia to get 0.75 crore land from Rajasthan Govt
The awards and accolades have started to flow in for India's Paralympic star Devendra Jhajharia, and now the Rajasthan Government has decided to award him Rs 75 lakh and a couple of plots of land. The 35-year-old recently grabbed the headlines after winning the gold medal in Javelin throw in Rio.
Devendra Jhajharia became the first Indian to secure two Gold medals with his feat at the Paralympics on Tuesday. The Athens 2014 gold-medal winner broke his own World record on the way and brought the fourth medal for the country at the Rio Paralympics 2016 with a throw of 63.97 meters at the Olympic Stadium in Engenhao.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje took to social media to congratulate the para-athlete on his historic achievement. She wrote, "Congratulations on creating history -- 1st Indian to win two Paralympic gold medals. Rajasthan is proud of your achievements.
"New world record, phenomenal performance & indomitable spirit! Devendra Jhajharia -- you`ve made India gleam with glory."
According to PTI, the Rajasthan Government has now decided to award Devendra, who hails from the Churu district in Rajasthan, Rs 75 lakh, along with a plot of land in the state capital Jaipur and another agricultural land plot in the Sri Ganganagar district.
