Asian Snooker Tour | Pankaj Advani bags bronze after losing 5-0 in semifinals
Pankaj Advani had to be content himself with a bronze medal after losing 5-0 to Ireland's Brendan O’Donoghue in the semifinals in the Asian 10-red Snooker on Saturday, September 30. Pankaj Advani has been a 19-time world champion before he bagged a bronze in Asian Snooker tour in Doha.
In the first frame, O’Donoghue was able to score two 20-plus breaks, which put him ahead of Advani and he won the frame 48-1. A break of 61 in the second frame made it 2-0, with O'Donoghue once again in the lead.
The third frame was an intense affair between both the opponents. However, Advani could not hold his ground against O'Donoghue, providing a lead to the latter 48-37. The Irish player was able to grab a lead of 71-41 and 66-25 in the fourth and the fifth frame respectively to subdue Advani and claim the match.
Advani has been able to grab a silver and bronze medals as he participated in the Asian tournaments. He will take up billiards to participate in the selection camp for the World Championships, which will be held in Bengaluru, starting October 3. The IBSF World Championships for billiards and Snooker have been scheduled in Myanmar in November 2018.
