Rashid Khan ready to make compromise with Delhi Golf Club

Rashid Khan, a two-time Asian Tour winner, was in the news for all the wrong reasons in the past week ever since he was banned from entering the premises of the Delhi Golf Course (DGC). Khan had subsequently registered a complaint with the Delhi police but revealed that he is ready to take back the court case. The Indian golfer even claimed that he is also ready to hold a joint press conference to let the public and media know they are calling off their ugly fight.

"Restore my playing rights, allow me to practice during any of the 'non-priority time' (hours between early morning 4 to 11am or 2pm to 7 in the evening). The members' hours are between 2pm to 5pm, during which, a non-member can't play. I'll pay the green fee (day fee of Rs 300) and practice during the 'nonpriority time', where both the members and professional golfers like me can practice.

"If that's not acceptable, then allow me just one hour between 9am-10am for the tee-off. That way I am not going to disturb anyone, as once I have teed-off, I'll continue moving forward on the 18-hole course. First of all, this fight is not about the membership as has been projected by the DGC. The fight is about who's right and who's wrong. When that scuffle with the security guard happened, it was the guard who slapped me first and I hit back in retaliation. When police refused to intervene, "I was left with no choice but to approach the Delhi High Court. So it's important for the DGC members to know that my problem is not with them or its members, but the management committee," Rashid told TOI.

Meanwhile, DGC president Major Ravinder Singh Bedi (retd) added that that the club is open to making a comprise and will take Khan’s demands to the DGC committee.

"We heard that Rashid met the Golf Foundation's Amit Luthra and gave him about his wish list. Let Mr Luthra first submit the wish list and then we'll discuss further. We'll take his demands to the DGC's committee and the members will decide."
