Yuvraj Singh Sandhu Bags PGTI Players Championship

Despite remaining second in the PGTI Order of Merit, the 25-year-old reinforced his place in the PGTI Order of Merit with his second win of the 2022 season and a prize money cheque worth Rs. 8,08,250 to go along with it.

Md Zamal Hossain Mollah (67-66-69-70), the joint overnight leader with Sandhu, missed his 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole by a whisker, denying him the chance to force the match into a playoff. With a final-round 70, Zamal finished in second place at 16-under 272.

Karandeep Kochhar shot a 65 in round four, the highest score of the day, to finish third at 15-under 273. Early in the day, Mollah had a tight one-stroke lead until a two-shot swing in Sandhu's favour on the par-3 eighth saw the latter go into a one-shot lead.

Sandhu's putter remained hot on the back-nine, as he continued to sink in putts from 10 to 15 feet to edge ahead with birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, while Zamal's form with the driver appeared to have deserted him, with him not getting a single birdie.

On the 17th, Mollah birdied from four feet while Sandhu found the woods and bunker to concede a shot.

Sandhu ultimately got it home on the 18th hole after a great chip to set up a tap-in for par, but not before escaping a scare from Zamal, who almost missed a 15-foot birdie conversion on the same hole that could've forced a playoff.

Kartik Sharma (72) of Gurugram came in fourth place with a score of 13-under 275.
