Advait Page and Swadesh Mondal bag gold at Junior National Aquatic Championships

Advait Page from Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal’s Swadesh Mondal broke national records on Monday to acquire gold medals at the 35th Sub-Junior and 45th Junior National Aquatics Championships in Pune. There were a total number of six records that were broken on the second day of the Championships.

Swimmer Advait Page broke the existing national record in 800m boys’ (group 1) freestyle. By completing the race in 08:16.27, he overpowered Sanskar Tokus and Sanjay CJ who completed the race in 08:36.58 and 08:40.30 respectively.

In the group ll, Aryan Nehra of Gujrat broke the national record by 9 seconds in the 800m freestyle boys, completing his race in 08:36.16. Hriday Santosh and Kapil Shetty captured the second and third position respectively.

In the girls’ category, Rachana S Rao broke the national record in group ll, 100m breaststroke with a time of 01:16.44. Vedika Amin with a time of 01:16.65, acquired silver and Kareena Shankta won bronze, completing her race in 01:17.37.

Swadesh Mondal clinched gold by completing his race in 02:25.27 in the 200m boy’s (group ll) breaststroke race. Kalp Bohra and Adith Smaran Olety came second and third. Swadesh also broke two national records in the 50m breaststroke and 400m individual medley, grabbing gold in these two events with times of 31.33 and 4:40.94 respectively.

Sridhari Natraj broke the national record in 100m breaststroke to land himself a gold on the first day of the Championship. He finished the race in 56.41s, improvising his previous record of 57.33s. He also won the boys’ 4x100m freestyle. Further Advait Page bettered the 400m national record and grabbed the gold.
