Following their star performances in the team event, Manika Batra and Mouma Das have lost their women’s doubles Table Tennis final and settled for the silver medal. The duo was completely outplayed by the Singaporean duo of Tianwei Feng and Mengyu Yu as they lost 11-5, 11-4 and 11-5.

The Indian table tennis contingent has done excellently in the Commonwealth Games this year. After both men’s and women’s teams won the gold medal in their respective team-events, the women’s doubles team have been dominating proceedings.

After dominating the large part of the tournament, India’s star duo Manika Batra and Mouma Das were handed a shock defeat against Tianwei Feng and Mengyu Yu of Singapore in the final of the doubles event. Hence, the duo had to settle for the silver medal.

The Singapore women completely dominated the first set as they won 11-5. That was a big setback for Batra and Das as they were put under pressure early in the match. However, they couldn’t make a comeback as they lost the second and third sets convincingly as well (11-4 and 11-5) to lose the final in straight sets.

It was a heart-breaking moment for the young Indian duo as they settled for the silver medal.
