The Indian pair of Manav Thakkar and Manish Shah sailed to the finals of the tournament with ease after defeating the Egypt-Italy team of Youssef Abdel-Aziz and Carlo Rossi 3-0 in the semi-finals. However, it wasn't a fairytale ending to the season as they ended up losing the final 3-1 to the Chinese pair of Yingbin Xu and Heyi.

In the semifinals, the Indian pair were made to work hard as they won the first game 13-11, but followed it with easy wins of 11-8, 11-7 in the next two games to eventually make it to the final of the competition.

In the finals, Manav and Manush failed to capitalize on the opportunities presented to them and lost 12-14 to the Chinese pair. The Chinese pair took the second game 11-8 before the Indians won the third 11-9 to force a fourth game. The fourth game had a nail-biting finish in favor of the Chinese duo, leaving India with a silver medal in the tournament.
