Indian Aces have extended their lead at the top of the Indian Premier Tennis League (IPTL) table with a lopsided 30-12 win over second placed Philippine Mavericks at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi on Thursday. The Aces broke their own record for the biggest margin at the event set when they defeated UAE Royals 30-11 in the inaugural season last year.

The fans were left disappointed when it was announced that Roger Federer will not feature in Philippine Maverick's line-up, as most of the build-up for the Delhi leg of the tournament was about the much-awaited clash between the Swiss master and his nemesis Rafael Nadal.

The Indian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza got their team off to a brilliant start as they thrashed the team of Treat Huey and Ajla Tomljanovic in the mixed doubles tie 6-2. World No.5 Agnieszka Radwanska extended Indian Aces' lead with an easy 6-1 win over Jarmila Gajdosova in a set which lasted just 17 minutes.

Indian Aces' coach Fabrice Santoro bounced back well from the disappointing defeat he faced against Mark Philippoussis at Manila on Tuesday, with a 6-1 win over the Australian. This result provided the Aces with an unassailable lead of 14 games, with two ties remaining for the night.

Rafael Nadal stepped onto the court along with Rohan Bopanna amidst huge cheering from the Delhi crowd and the pair defeated the Maverick's team of Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Treat Huey 6-4.

In the men's singles, Nadal faced a bit of resistance from Roger-Vasselin, but eventually closed the match at 6-4.
