Rohan Bopanna and doubles partner Florin Mergea grabbed the final slot at the year-end ATP World Tour Finals to be held in London from November 15 to 22. The event hosts only the top eight doubles teams and the pair managed to sneak in, thanks to their No. 8 rank.

Bopanna and Mergea are currenly ranked No. 8 and were set to seal the last spot for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. Their plans, however, hit a road bump when they lost in the quarterfinal of the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris. Consequently, the duo were left to hope for a loss for the other pair of contenders, Canadian-American duo Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock. A win for Pospisil and Sock at the championship would have let them leapfrog to the No. 8 spot.

Pospisil and Sock, who had shocked top seeds and four-time champions Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan enroute to the final, lost to Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo in the final. Interestingly, Dodig and Melo had earlier acccounted for Bopanna and Mergea as well.
