Two-times Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka will defend his title at the Aircel Chennai Open to be held from January 4 to 10 next year, the organisers said in a statement.

“Chennai Open is a great way to start the season, and I look forward to my eighth year at the tournament,” the Swiss world number four was quoted in the release.

“The last two years have been extra special since I have gone on to win a Grand Slam each year after a winning start here in Chennai. So, Chennai has become like my good luck charm now.”

The 30-year-old won his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in 2014 and the second at the French Open this year. The Swiss will look to complete a hat-trick of titles at Chennai, in what will be the 20th edition of the tournament.
