Top-seeded pairing of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis made their way into the final of the Stuttgart Open on Saturday after beating the unseeded duo of Sabine Lisicki and Lucie Safarova in straight sets. The Indo-Swiss pair will face Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic in a bid to win the title.

In a semi-final that lasted close to an hour and a half, SanTina won it 6-4, 7-5 to head into yet another final. In the first set, neither team served well and there were a total of seven service breaks in the 10 games played as both parties looked happy to surrender serve. But eventually, it all came down to the big points, as Sania-Hingis held their nerve more often than once, saving 5 of the 8 break points they faced, while breaking the opponents serve 4 times in 6 attempts.

The second set was also decided on fine margins as Lisicki-Safarova put in a much better showing with their serves. The Czech-German pair won 68% of their first serve points, but despite their mightiest of efforts, they couldn’t stop the Indo-Swiss pair from breaking their serve thrice to wrap up the match and storm into the final.

Sania-Hingis will now face French pair Garcia-Mladenovic in the final on Sunday.
