Sania Mirza: I don't know if I will be playing at the 2020 Olympics

"The Olympics is only ever four years. I don't know if I will be still playing in four years," said an emotional Sania Mirza after the match, reported AFP.

After losing a heart-breaking semi-final on Saturday night, Indian duo Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna went into the bronze medal match against Radek Stepanek and Lucie Hradecká of Czech Republic hoping to clinch the first medal for the country at Rio Olympics. Hopes were sky high and rightly so, but it all went up in smokes within few minutes into the encounter.

Mirza was not at her best during the tournament, and the Indian pair wasted a lot of opportunities in the match. The World No.1 in women’s doubles said that it will take a lot of time for her to get over the loss.

"We didn't play our best, but that's sport. It's going to take some time to get over this. We had chances and in the second set, we could have won multiple times.

"There's not a lot I can say to you guys at the moment," Sania said.

Mirza and Bopanna were one of the few medal hopes remaining for India in the tournament after most of the big names faltered at Rio. The Hyderabad-born tennis star had previously lost in the first round of the women's doubles event alongside her partner Prarthana Thombare.
