Indian Aces continued to maintain their top position in the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) points table despite losing to Japan Warriors 20-27 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Wednesday. In the other match, Singapore Slammers got the better of UAE Royals 30-18.

In the legends round, former two-time Davis Cup champion Mark Philippoussis lost a close match to Fernando González 5-6.  Although Australian Philippoussis forced the match to the shoot-out, the former Chile star put the Warriors ahead.

Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna failed to create a break point in the mixed doubles and lost to Jelena Jankovic and Jean-Julien Rojer to hand the Warriors a 2-0 lead.

Warriors didn’t give a moment of respite to the table toppers as Jankovic beat Kirsten Flipkens 6-4 in the women’s singles.

The Aces' only success came in men’s doubles with Ivan Dodig and Feliciano López cruising past Jean-Julien Rojer and Fernando Verdasco 6-3. However, in the final round, Warriors’ Verdasco defeated Feliciano Lopez 6-1 in the Spanish derby.

In the other match, hosts Slammers won all five rounds against Royals.
