Mirza and Hingis make the 25-wins mark and reach Brisbane final

The Indo-Swiss pair became the first team since Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci (2012) to win 25 matches in a row. In fact, to find a pair with a bigger winning streak, one has to go all the way back to 1994 when Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva went undefeated for 28 games.

Mirza and Hingis cruised through the first set and won it 6-3, but their opponents showed a bit of resistance to take a 2-0 lead in the second set, and were also just one game away from winning it at 5-4. But the number one seed won the next three games in a row, and showed once again, why they are at the top.

Mirza and Hingis are yet to lose a set in this tournament and will now face the winner of the second semi-final, which will take place later today, between the all-Spanish team of Anabel Medina Garrigues - Arantxa Parra Santonja and the all-German team of Angelique Kerber – Andrea Petkovic.

Interestingly, Martina Hingis was the champion last time around, although she had won it with former doubles partner Sabine Lisicki.
