However, the partners are set to square off against each other in the Mixed Doubles quarters with the presence of Leander Paes alongside Hingis adding an extra touch of intrigue to the face-off..

After strolling to victory in the Round 3 yesterday, ‘SanTina’ looked in ominous form in the first set pocketing it 6-2 in 23 minutes. However, ten unforced errors in the second set by the World No.1 duo allowed the twelfth-seeded pair of Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Coco Vandeweghe a way back into the match with them winning it 6-4. The third and final set proved to be a walk in the park for Sania and Hingis as they finished it 6-1 in 34 minutes to confirm their entry into the last four.

The World No.1 duo will now face the German-Czech pair of Julia Goerges/Karolina Pliskova, who they had beaten in the quarters of China Open.

In the Mixed Doubles, the top-seeded pair of Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig are set to face defending champions Martina Hingis and Leander Paes in the quarter-final after both pairs registered comfortable victories in the second round. Mirza and Dodig defeated Yaroslava Shvedova and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi 7-5,6-2 in one hour and ten minutes to enter the quarter-final.
