The combined age of Leander Paes and Marcin Matkowski is 78, yet, the duo hardly broke a sweat to beat the pair of Lu Yen-hsun and Janko Tipsarevic 6-1, 6-3. Paes, who won the mixed doubles title at the French Open, continued his good run to enter the second round of the Championships.

Last year, Paes was knocked out in the third round of the men's doubles event at the Wimbledon, along with his then partner Daniel Nestor. His current partner Marcin Matkowski had done one better and reached the quarterfinal of the competition, alongside his partner Nenad Zimonjic. The Indo-Polish pair of Paes/Matkowski got off to a flying start and won the first set 6-1 in the blink of an eye after breaking their opponents twice. The second set was a much tighter affair, but the Indo-Polish pair broke their opponents' serve in the fifth game to take a 3-2 lead. They held serve on their own and won the match with ease to move into the next round.
