17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has brushed aside the talk of his retirement at the end of next season. The Swiss maestro also said that his plans of retirement are far away and he wants to take his decision rather than his body.

Roger Federer has been out of the Tennis court after his defeat to Milos Raonic in the Wimbledon semifinal in July. His injury was aggravated during the match, and after that, the Swiss had ruled himself out for the remainder of the season.

However, Federer has ruled out any chances of his retirement from Tennis after the end of the next season.

"Stopping for such a long time after 20 years of tennis cannot be anything but positive. Playing in 2018? It’s a year away but I clearly still hope to play," Federer was quoted as saying by Sport24.

He added, "Retirement is still far away, I only hope that I will decide it and not my body.”

"I am practicing well, we are going step by step although we could do more," said Federer, who wants to ease back into the competitive circuit.

Federer has slipped to the 8th place in the ATP rankings released last week, and coupled with the fall of Rafael Nadal, who has also slipped to 6th, this is the first time that the duo have not been in the top-five since more than a decade.
