Citi Open | Yuki Bhambri enters quarterfinals, Bopanna-Young will face Bryan challenge

Yuki Bhambri continued his fabulous form as he thrashed Guido Pella in the pre-quarterfinals 6-7, 6-3, 6-1 and enter the quarterfinals of the Citi Open. On the other hand, Rohan Bopanna and his American partner Donald Young will face the Bryan brothers in the quarterfinal that will be played today.

The 285-world ranked Yuki Bhambri successfully entered the quarters of the Citi Open after he beat Argentine Guido Pella 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. Pella had ousted Bhambri's compatriot Ramkumar Ramanathan last week in the second round.

In the pre-quarterfinals, the 25-year-old stunned the sixth-seeded French star Gael Monfils as he registered a hard fought 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win. 

In the next round, Bhambri will face Kevin Anderson of South Africa who reached the quarterfinals after beating Dominic Thiem. 

In the Women’s doubles event, Sania Mirza and her Romanian partner Monica Niculescu easily beat American duo of Jamie Loeb and Ashley Weinholdin  6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. 

In the men’s doubles, Bopanna and his partner Young had it very comfortable against the Canada-Pakistan pair of Daniel Nestor and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi. In the quarterfinals, today, they will face a tough challenge in the form of the American pair, Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan.
