Wimbledon 2017 | Roger Federer enters his eleventh final, will face Marin Cilic for the title

Federer reached his 11th Wimbledon final on Friday and is on his way to winning a record-breaking eighth title and thus becoming the oldest champion at the All England Club in the Open era. In his 42nd Grand Slam semi-final, he defeated Berdych, who had only reached the final once before, back in 2010, 7-6 (7/4), 7-6 (7/4), 6-4.

"I feel very privileged to be in another final and get the pleasure to play on Centre Court another time," said Federer after the match reported AFP.

"This guy doesn't really seem to be getting any older," said Berdych after the game.

In the other semi-final clash, seventh seeded Cilic registered a 6-7 (6/8), 6-4, 7-6 (7/3), 7-5 win over American Sam Querrey. The 28-year-old Cilic has reached his first Wimbledon final on the 11th attempt.

"It's unbelievable. I have played really well from the start of the tournament. Sam played at a high level especially in the first set. I was 4/1 up in the tie-break and didn't convert," said Cilic.

The 2014 US Open champion now face Federer in Sunday's final

With Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic suffering injury-hit exits in the quarter-finals and Rafael Nadal losing in the last 16, without a doubt, Federer will be the favourite to win the title.

In the mixed doubles, defending champions Heather Watson and Henri Kontinen beat second seeds Bruno Soares and Elena Vesnina 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 to reach the final. They will face Jamie Murray and Martina Hingis for the title, who thrashed Marcelo Demoliner and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez 6-2, 7-5 in their semi-final on Centre Court.
