WATCH | Hawk-eye suffers brain-fade in Dimitrov-Edmund quarter final

After Kyle Edmund had continued the trend of upsets at the Australian Open on Day 9 as he stunned World No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov to take the first set 6-4. Dimitrov fought back in the second, saving four break points, to level proceeding on the day. However, after Edmund had taken the third, he broke the Bulgarian in the fourth to take a commanding lead. After Dimitrov had broken the Briton back, he found himself under some extreme pressure again, serving at 15-30.

On the pressure point, Dimitrov stretched Edmond out on the ad court and hit a down a back-hand winner. Knowing the importance of the point, Edmund decided to challenge the call and even he in his wildest dreams could not have imagined what was about to happen. As Hawk-eye showed the result bounce on the screens across the arena, it took a few seconds to actually calculate the result which left everyone, from the players to the fans and coaches, in a state of limbo. After a few seconds, Hawk-eye did say that it was out and when the camera zoomed in on the mark, it was evident how close the decision actually was. 

Dimitrov went on to be broken in the same game after saving a break point and after Edmund held his serve, the Bulgarian was ousted from a Grand Slam yet again.
