Didn’t know if I would win until the last shot, reveals Novak Djokovic

Djokovic has endured a couple of rough years with injuries and personal problems playing a big part in his decline. Before Wimbledon 2016, Djokovic had won four straight Grand Slams - a feat even Roger Federer Rafael Nadal hadn't been able to achieve. However, post that, he suffered a loss in the US Open Final and did not make it to the last match of Grand Slam for an entire year. But it appears that the Serb is back to his very best as he beat the in-form Nadal in five sets of 6-4 3-6 7-6 (11-9) 3-6 10-8.

“It could have gone either way and it feels very special. He was very close to winning the match. There was not much of a difference between the players and I never felt certain of winning the match until the last shot,” revealed Djokovic post the match, reported The Telegraph.

“It is difficult to come back to practise at 10:30 AM when you have finished a game at 11 PM the day before. It was not an easy day. I am pleased to get through.”

On his final against Anderson, Djokovic stated how glad he was to play the finals and spoke about his journey to reach this stage.

“It has been a rollercoaster ride for both the players and hopefully both of us play well in the finals. Reaching the Wimbledon finals is an achievement in itself after what I’ve been through,” said Djokovic.
