Ramkumar Ramanathan’s journey in the Marbella Challengers ended as he along with his partner Enrique Lopez Perez lost the men’s doubles semifinal yesterday. Ramanathan and his Spanish partner have failed to overcome the challenge against Ariel Behar and Guido Andreozzi and lost the match 3-6, 5-7.

India’s last hope in the Marbella Challengers ended in a very disappointing manner as Ramanathan faced a defeat in the semifinal of the doubles event after putting up a strong show throughout the tournament.

Uruguay’s Behar and Argentina’s Andreozzi got an early lead after winning the first three games and Ramanathan and Perez finally opened their points account in the fourth game. They tried to make a comeback as the score reached 4-3 in the favor of the duo of Behar and Andreozzi. But in the next three games, the Indo-Spanish pair didn’t find a single point and eventually lost the first set 3-6.

In the second set of the match, the Indian and Spanish player showed some positive brand of tennis as they won the first two points but lost their serve in the third. Soon their opponent equaled the scoreline at 3-all and both pairs saved their next serves before the scorecard reached 5-5. In the next game, Ramanathan and Perez failed to save their serve which resulted in a straight second set loss for the duo.
