Ritu Phogat decimates Alyssa Lampe to propel Mumbai Garuda to PWL final

Mumbai Garuda's decimated Bengaluru Yodhas 5-2 in the first semi-final of the Pro Wrestling League at the IGI stadium, New Delhi on Friday to qualify for the final. Narsingh Yadav's and Bajrang Punia's victories came too late for the Bengaluru Yodhas as Mumbai Gaurda sealed the tie after taking an unassailable 4-0 lead.

Youngster, Ritu Phogat proved to be the star for Mumbai Garuda as she decimated 2013 World Championship bronze medallist Alyssa Lampe 10-4 in the women's 48kg category. The American had the better start to the bout after racing away to a 4-0 lead in less than two minutes. Alyssa Lampe used her experience against the youngster Ritu to hold her lead at the end of the first round. 

In the second round, the tides turned in favour of Ritu as she won six straight points in the first minute to take the lead. The 21-year old Indian changed the course of the bout completely as she brought down Alyssa Lampe once again, and extended her lead via a pin down to win the bout 10-4. With this win, the Mumbai Garuda's took a 2-0 lead in the tie.

Odunayo Adekuoroye of Mumbai Garuda’s sealed the tie, and a spot in the final, after she won the fourth bout of the match gaining an unassailable 4-0 lead.
