Asian Games | Jinson Johnson bags gold in the men’s 1500m event

Jinson Johnson, who earlier won silver in the 800m race, managed to win gold in the men’s 1500m event at the ongoing Asian Games in Jakarta with a timing of 3:44:72 in the finals. However, Manjit Singh, who had earlier clinched gold in the 800m final, finished fourth in the same event.

Indian track athlete - Jinson Johnson, who had earlier bagged the silver medal in the 800m event, managed to secure gold in the 1500m event at the ongoing Asian Games in Jakarta. This was the sixth medal that India managed to win in athletics as the total medal tally rose to 47 (12 gold, 20 silver, 25 bronze).

Johnson recorded a timing of 3:44:72 to finish ahead of Iran’s Amir Moradi, who turned in a timing of 3:45.62. Bahrain’s Mohammed Tiouali finished third with a timing of 3:45.88. Manjit Singh, who had stunned one and all with his 800m gold, took the fourth position with a timing of 3:46.57sec. Singh had topped the qualification in the 1500m event but could not manage a podium finish, with Johnson emerging as the star in the event.
