In a surprising turn of events, the Athletics Federation of India still hasn’t revealed the names of the athletes for the 2018 CWG despite Friday being the last day of sending in the entries. There are 37 athletes who will be a part of the athletics contingent for the CWG 2018 in April.

The AFI, on Friday, didn’t make the names of the athletes, who will be competing in the Commonwealth Games 2018 in April, public. 0 of 37 names have been disclosed for Gold Coast 2018 and the committee is still deliberating the names of athletes despite Friday being the last day of sending the entries to the Commonwealth federation. However, the main reason for this delay has been the AFI’s inability to finalize the squad for the mens and womens 400*4m relay.

The AFI is trying to secure an undertaking from some of the notable national camp absentees, including Muhammed Anas, Anilda Thomas, Arokia Rajiv, MR Poovamma, and R Anu, who will join the contingent before being named in CWG squad.

This dilemma came after AFI set the qualification criteria for Federations Cup senior national championship which resulted in only 9 athletes making the CWG grade. A majority of participants were not even close to reaching the mark.
