India's hopes at the French Open Super Series ended in the pre-quarterfinals on Thursday after Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu went down to China'a Bingjiao He 22-20, 21-17 in a closely contested match and HS Prannoy lost to Taipei's Tien Chen Chou 21-19, 21-16.

It turned out to be another disappointing tournament for World No 8 Sindhu who bowed out early from her second Super Series in two weeks after Denmark.

In a match that lasted 41 minutes, there wasn't much to separate both the players as the score went from 4-4 to 7-7 in the opening exchanges. Sindhu made it 15-12 before world No 11 He pulled it back at 19-18. After being level on 20, He scored two crucial points to win the first game.

He took early control of the second game after storming to 10-5. Sindhu narrowed it down to 16-19 before He closed out the match.

It was a similar story for HS Prannoy in the men’s singles. The Indian was able to maintain a slender lead at 18-15 over the world No 8, but capitulated under pressure after being level at 19-19. In the second game, Chou stormed into a 14-9 lead after which Prannoy scored five straight points to make it 14-14. Chou shifted gears after the slip-up and went on to win at 21-16.
