BWF Rankings | Sindhu breaks into top-5 for first time; Saina at 9th

PV Sindhu's rise since November 2016 has been exceptional, to say the least. In early November, she found herself on the fringes of the top 10. However, due to the lack of tournaments, she had been stagnant at sixth place for quite a while but a win in the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships has seen her reach another milestone as she broke into the top-five for the first time at the expense of Ratchanok Intanon who dropped three places on the list. 

Tai Tzu Ying leads the list with 84,611 points and is followed by Carolina Marin (75,090) and Sung Ji-Hyun (72,376) while Sindhu with 69,399 is now attouching distance of the leaders. 

Sindhu's compatriot Saina Nehwal's win at the Malaysia Masters was not enough to help improve on her existing ranking of 9. With the All-England series coming up, we might just witness a few more changes in the table sooner rather than later.

In the men's singles list, HS Prannoy was the only Indian to see movement in the top-25. He managed to better his previous ranking by one place and is now 23rd. Ajay Jayaram (18) and Srikanth Kidambi (21) were able to maintain their rankings on the table. 

On the doubles front, Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy dropped a place and are now just one row away from dropping out of the top-25. But Pranaav Chopra and Sikki Reddy have been able to cement their 14th place on the list opening a gap of almost 200 points.
