Injury free Carolina Marin hopes to be stronger at All England Championship

Marin had a golden three years from 2014 to 2016 where the Spaniard clinched two World Championship titles and the All England title, apart from the Olympic crown. However, the confidence and motivation took a severe blow after the Rio Games owing to injuries.

Though she won the Japan Open and European Championship in 2017, apart from reaching the finals at India Open, Malaysia Open, and Singapore Open, yet another hip injury at the Hong Kong Superseries meant she had to miss the Dubai Superseries Finals in December.

The World No. 5, however, looks to be at her fittest as she guided Hyderabad Hunters to a PBL title last month and believes that she will be at a 100 percent with some sharpening of skills in the All England Championships, which is scheduled to be held from March 14 to 18 in Birmingham.

"I feel my performance is not 100 percent but it would be there in the All England. I feel motivated because I want to keep improving my game. I will prepare very well for All England. Last year it was hard because I had injuries after Olympics and my body needed a long break. It is always tough to keep going mentally after you have an injury but I have a good team," said the former world no. 1 as quoted by PTI.

"I had to believe in myself. I had to change my game during that phase and I didn't get enough time to prepare for tournaments. I want to focus on improving my game after this event."

The Women’s singles game is going through one of its glorious phases at the moment with the likes of Tai Tzu Ying, PV Sindhu, Akane Yamaguchi, Sing Ji Hyun, Saina Nehwal and many more gracing the top 10 rankings. And Marin believes all of them good enough to win any tournament today.

"Women singles is really tough. Any player in top 10 can win any tournament because they are at the same level. Every player changes their game. So we have to be really prepared."
