India’s Siril Verma won a hard-fought three-game contest 17-21, 21-19, 21-12 to stun top seed Darren Liew of Malaysia. Ranked 97th in the world, Siril will now enter the third round of the Vietnam Open after getting past the 22nd ranked Malaysian after battling hard for 52 minutes in the second-round tie.
