Vijender 'punches holes' through Hyuseinov without breaking a sweat

This was Vijender Singh's first six-rounder match, and as he promised before the game, he did not need the extra two rounds to defeat Hyuseinov.

The Olympic medalist started the opening round of his bout a bit circumspectly to gauge his opponent. He soon started prodding Hyuseinov with a host of left jabs and began to control the center of the ring. By the end of the round, Singh had put Hyuseinov on the back-foot and landed a couple of solid right-handers. The Bulgarian pugilist could not get past Vijender's defence, who showed a lot of maturity to win the first round, without really breaking a sweat.

In the second round, Vijender came out of the box with all cylinders firing. He put Hyuseinov into a corner and unloaded a flurry of punches. The referee had to stop the match as Hyuseinov was not in a state to continue. The Haryana-born boxer was announced as the winner, as he continues his march towards a title match next year.
