CWG 2018 | Amit Panghal guides India to yet another silver in boxing

As the first round started, Galal was the more proactive of the two as he went on the front foot and landed a few jabs, before the Indian responded with hooks. However, while Galal seemed to have landed more punches, Panghal's were quality ones in front of a packed Indian crowd in Gold Coast.

The house was packed that cheered for Amit and it was seen in the second round where he banged a quick right jab flat on the face of the Englishman right at the beginning. But, at the end of the round one, the majority of the judges sided with Gafal. In the second round, Galal's attack was less effective as the closeup fighter couldn’t control himself in the face of Amit's hooks that he received on his face before unleashing his own huge left-hand punch.

Following that round, Amit looked out of steam and his approach reflected just that. Taking the benefit of the same, the ever-aggressive Galal tried controlling the initiative. However, Amit fought back nicely with two nice hooks to take the game to the very end, but the Englishman was too good for him to control on the day. He was rightfully awarded the Gold medal after the judges’ cards read 29-28, 30-27, 28-29, 28-28, 29-28 in his favor.
