ICC World Cup 2019 | MS Dhoni sticks to his strengths, says Michael Hussey
Michael Hussey heaped praise on former World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni who will play a key role if India are to reach the knockout stages of the tournament in England. Virat Kohli & Co. will take on defending champions Australia in their second match of the global showpiece on Sunday.
Former Australia batsman Michael Hussey and India wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni were teammates for quite some time in Chennai Super Kings. The former cricketer revealed that Dhoni does not have “too many weaknesses” but added that even if he was aware of any flaws he would not give that information to the Australian cricket team ahead of Sunday’s game.
“All the teams do a very thorough analysis of all the players so I am sure that they will have their plans for MSD and all the Indian players.
“He is a great competitor and keeps his composure better than anyone especially under pressure. He is a very smart player, who is calculating. He knows his strengths and always sticks to them,” Hussey said in a recent interview as per PTI.
In addition to that, Hussey cited Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya as the two game-changers in the Indian team.
“Bumrah will bowl all those difficult overs. We would see him bowl whenever India are desperate for a wicket, so there will be pressure on him but I think he handles the pressure as well as anyone in world cricket.
“Hardik could be used as a floater in the batting order ...or be used as that power hitter at the back end of an innings. I would not like to be bowling if Hardik and MSD are batting at the end of an innings,” Hussey added.
