Pakistan Hockey Federation lashes out at India for their Junior World Cup exit

The International Hockey Federation had disallowed Pakistan from taking part in the Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup 2016 to be held in Uttar Pradesh, citing their inability to produce travel documents before the official deadline as the reason and has replaced them with Malaysia.   

PHF Secretary Shehbaz Ahmed termed the incident as a ‘pre-planned’ moved and blamed India for not releasing the Visa to Pakistan’s delegation before the deadline.

He said to the Dawn, "Pakistan did not delay any scheduled obligation and it is all India's fault to not issue the visa to Pakistan's delegation before the deadline.

"Our government had timely issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players to take part in the tournament, but it is sad that Pakistan will not be able to take part in Junior Hockey World Cup.”

He added, "We had planned training camps for our players so how can we delay any scheduled to jeopardise our participation.

"I had already seen it coming that this decision by FIH is going to go against Pakistan.”

After the Uri attack, the sporting ties have been seriously affected and Indian Women’s Cricket team had also forfeited their championship points to Pakistan. BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur had also opined against playing Pakistan in the ICC events.
