Akashdeep Singh could face match suspension by Federation of International Hockey

After making an exit from the World Cup, the troubles for the Indian team does not seem to be ending anytime soon. After the coach of the men’s Hockey team, Harendra Singh has been issued an official warning from the Federation of International Hockey(FIH) for his outburst against the quarter-final match officials at the post-match conference, it is Akashdeep now. 

The striker could bee seemingly be in trouble for committing an offence in the same quarterfinal match. Singh has been accused of "using language or gesture(s) that is seriously obscene, seriously offensive or have a seriously insulting nature to another participant,” said an FIH media release.

Had India won that match and moved to the semifinals, Akashdeep would have faced the ban in the tournament itself. Hence Christian Deckenbrock, the FIH Technical Delegate for the ongoing World Cup, has sent "written notice of his decision" to the CEO and "recommended him to refer the case to the FIH Disciplinary Commissioner."

"A suspension should apply for the next FIH top-tier competition (including FIH Series Final) at which India will participate and that it should also be considered whether the number of players which India may use in these matches will be limited", Deckenbrock said.
