Indian shooter Rahi Sarnobat gave India another gold medal in shooting in the ongoing Asian Games in Indonesia as she won the women’s 25m pistol event on Wednesday. Sarnobat defeated Thailand’s Naphaswan Yangpaiboon in a shoot-off in the finals after the scores were level after 10 rounds.

In a thrilling final event of women’s 25m pistol, Sarnobat showed greater control to win shoot-off by 3-2. Both of them got their first and second one right in the shoot-off while the Thai missed out on the third and Sarnobat clinched the medal. Sarnobat and Yangpaiboon ended with scores of 34 each after the end of the 10th round.

Sarnobat had slipped to the second spot after the ninth series but came back well to draw level at the end. The 27-year-old shooter’s scores read 5, 5, 4 in stage 1 and 2, 4, 5, 3, 2, 2, 2 in the second stage.

In the same year, she won bronze in the 25-metre pistol team event along with Anisa Sayyed and Heena Sidhu at the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon.

Korea’s Kim Min Jung bagged the bronze medal in the event with a total score of 29 while India’s Manu Bhaker finished at the sixth position with only 16 points to her name.
