ISSF Junior World Cup | Anish Bhanwala wins gold in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event

In the ISSF World Cup Stage 1, which was in Guadalajara (MEX) earlier this month, Bhanwala was placed in the seventh position and he has shown brilliant improvement in this tournament as well. He looked confident from the very beginning and ended the campaign as the only shooter to execute a perfect 5-hit series in the whole final. And after recording the highest qualification score with 585 points, Bhanwala concluded with 29 total hits and clinching his first international career gold in the process.

On the podium, he finished ahead of teammates Anhad Jawanda and Adarsh Singh and China’s Cheng Zhipeng and Zhang Jueming. While 19-year-old Zhipeng won the silver medal with 27 hits, 20-year-old Jueming finished the event with 23 hits as he claimed bronze in his first Junior World Cup start ever.

Jawanda finished just outside the medal position in the fourth position with 17 hits. He was followed by yet another Chinese, Pan Junchen, who could manage only 12 hits. Young Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu finished in the sixth position in his first international appearance.

China, however, kept their dominance intact when it came to team finish. They created a new Junior World Record with 1733 points as India’s Bhanwala, Jawanda and Singh had to settle for silver. The bronze medal was awarded to another Indian team, which had Sandhu, Japtyesh Singh Jaspal, and Mandeep Singh.
