India continued their dominant display in the 10m air pistol event with Abishek Verma clinching the yellow metal and prodigal son Saurabh Chaudhary clinching the silver medal in the ongoing World Cup in Rio. Sanjeev Rajput secured his Olympics spot in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions event.

After coming fourth in the qualifications with a score of 582 points, Verma had entered the eight-man finals in the fifth position. However, he was was immensely focused in the main round, shooting 244.2 to finish top.

Chaudhary, who had qualified in the second position with 584 points, could only score 221.9 in the finals and still managed to finish third and win a bronze medal. The silver medal was won by Turkey's Ismail Keles, who aggregated 243.1.

However, with Verma and Chaudhary both sealing their quotas in the previous qualifying events, India have exhausted their maximum Olympic quotas available per country in the 10m pistol event.

In the men's 50m rifle 3 positions final, Rajput was India’s hero as she sealed India’s Olympic quota in that event as he shot a total of 463 points to finish second. He missed out on the gold by just 0.2 points, which was taken by Croatia's Petar Gorsa. China’s Changhong Zhang won the bronze medal by finishing third.

India were placed at the top of the medals tally with two gold, one silver and a bronze.
